First Time Bing outperform Yahoo!

Search engine competition is still dominated by Google. However, it is quite interesting if we look at the competition in second and third between Bing and Yahoo!.

In December 2011 study by comScore, Google is at top the list of search engines most widely used by U.S. communities with 65.9% market share.

Now attention is on the runner-up occupied by Bing, which stood at 15.1%. This is the first time Microsoft's search engine is managed to outperform Yahoo! since its launch in mid 2008. Yahoo! itself narrowly defeated with 14.5% achievement.

The signs to overtake Yahoo! Bing has been seen since mid-December 2011. At that time, both reached the same percentage of the market by 15%. However, in about three weeks, Bing was capable to infiltrating into the second position.

It should be noted, data released by comScore did not considered from the search via mobile phones and tablets. Google quick search Instant style is also ignored because its competitors did not have a similar feature.

As quoted by the Associated Press, in one and a half years, precisely since the joint venture between Microsoft (Bing) and Yahoo! entwined in search engine technology cooperation, Bing market continues to grow while Yahoo! declined. In July 2009, Bing controls only 9% of the market compared to 19% owned by Yahoo!.

However, until now, Bing is not a profitable business units for Microsoft. Operational losses worth at least $ 7 billion, Microsoft has suffered since June 2008.
