W32/Koobface Will Be a Christmas Present from Santa

Approaching Christmas we have to pay attention in a new spreading technique of internet virus, after latest Captcha techniques used by W32/koobface worm, worm recently spreading around the internet world, it seems that malware author have to think about new way to spread their virus, now the author have turned their way to the new way called “santa for help”, it delivers it's nasty surprise which awaits Facebook users.

Just like the latest technique, it drops other trojans such as FakeAlert, begins with a post on user's facebook wall. If the user clicks on the link, they are presented with a fake video player with a Christmas greeting
like this:

Now you must be start to think that this message is a fake, it tells us in order to view the video we have to download the latest version of Adobe Flash. Just like what you're thinking about, if we clicks on “install”, instead of the flash player being downloaded, it runs a variant of w32/koobface on our system. Furthermore, our browser is redirected to more harmful sites harboring malicious files which are automatically installed and executed on the system.

Amongst the malicious files that are downloaded and executed includes FakeAlert trojans. Like its predecessors, a fake message is displayed notification that our system is infected with various viruses and that we require to buy a product to remove them.

So what is the best action? That we have to avoid installing anything that results from clicking on video links relating to any Christmas greeting unless we know where it come from.
