The first generation of Intel Atom is intended for the simple of use, such as Internet activity and the use of a more mobile office. However, some users want the higher ability than just like those activity.
Answering these issue, Intel officially unveiled its new-generation Atom processor code named Cedar Trail using 32nm fabrication.
Processors that have been launched prior to the Intel Atom N2600 series, N2800 and D2700, all dual-core type. N series itself is intended for netbooks and D series for desktop platforms.
Series N2600 comes with a clock 1.6 to 1.86 GHz with a TDP of less than 3.5 watts. Series N2899 using the clock option from 1.86 to 2.13 GHz with a TDP of less than 6.5 watts. Meanwhile, the D2700 uses clocked 2.13 GHz with a maximum TDP of 10 watts.
This latest generation of Intel Atom offers a longer battery life and claimed could reach 10 hours, 20% more efficient power usage compared to its predecessor.
The most interesting is the GMA 3600/3650 onboard graphics capabilities chipset is also improved. So with its capabilities, we can run high-definition multimedia content more smoothly.
