Microsoft Ask Royalties 15 Dollars for Every Samsung Android Smartphone Sold

While the legal dispute with Apple has not been completed yet, the Samsung back to accept a new problem because of the demand for payment of royalties by Microsoft related to the use of the Android OS on Samsung's smartphone product line. Microsoft asked Samsung to pay 15 dollars for every Android phones sold to date according to Microsoft that samsung has been using several patents owned by Microsoft.
Not known exactly what is considered a patent has been infringed, but its expected to related to the basic Android derived from Linux. Formerly, Microsoft has filed a similar lawsuit to the HTC and it has managed to get the desired royalties. In addition, Microsoft also managed to get compensation for royalties from the use of Android by several other companies such as Winstron, Velocity Micro, until Itronix.

Microsoft's step pursuing Android handset maker and creator of the OS rather than Google as it creator can be quite surprising. Nevertheless it seems to be done by Microsoft because Google does not take advantage of the Android OS directly like the Android smartphone makers with their smartphone product. Thus, if Microsoft sued Google, Microsoft will not get any royalties as it through to Android handset makers.

Reported that Samsung objected of the demand royalties as 15 dollars and ask for reduction in royalty payments to 10 dollars. If calculated by the sale of Samsung Galaxy S II, which reaches 3 million units, then Samsung must pay a royalty of 30-45 million dollars to Microsoft. Not to mention if sales figures are calculated from Samsung Android gadgets such as the Galaxy S to Galaxy Tab. For comparison, the HTC before has signed a partnership with Microsoft to pay 5 dollars for every Android handset produced.

Does Microsoft make more money from Android through this royalty income rather than obtaining the licenses of Windows Phone 7?
Then Does Samsung going to stop using Android for these problems?
