Make Virus not Spreading from USB Flashdisk

Many people know that virus can infect computer from media storage, one of popular way virus infect to computer is from USB Flashdisk. Till now I often see that many computer in office/laptop school is infected by virus and they didn't know about it. Beside Antivirus which always update at least 1x a week, i have some tips to avoid virus not spreading from media storage like flashdisk.

  1. Open Registry Editor from Start Menu > Run and type regedit then OK
  2. Find this: KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
  3. Make new key (Right click > New > DWORD Value) rename : NoDriveAutoRun
  4. Double click to input the value. Check Base: Decimal and fill Data Value with 67108863
  5. If needed, you can also add same value to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explor
  6. Restart Computer
By add this settings, then when we put USB Flashdisk windows would not run any autorun file on it.
Settings:
User Key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
Name: NoDriveAutoRun
Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value: 32-bit bitmask
